No Loo To Go To

Image
The toilet in the office yesterday was under repairs and we couldn't use it. More specifically, the septic tank was under repair. You often take these things for granted, that there is easy access for you to relieve your bladder, as and when you feel like it, etc etc. Anyway, fortunately, by 12.30pm, I was out of the office, for some appointments. Actually, was with ex FCI on some work related matter. Which dragged all the way until 3pm, so was spared the agony of holding it back. By the time I got back to the office at 3pm, I had totally forgotten the loo was out of bounds, and at about 4.00pm, went to relieve the call of nature. So, didn't flush. The last thing the workers at the septic tank need would be torrents of water gushing down. Decided not to go to the gym today, and give the old bones a rest. My left elbow seems to be hurting, for a few days now. Actually, I keep forgetting I have passport, and keep forgetting there's Body Attack at Axis on Mondays at 5.30!

Weekend With Wonder Woman

Image
Friday - Same old same old. Body Pump at MJH/MRB, FPI that day replaced by Myke, as the former had quartelies. Rushed back, to prepare supper for cell group, which initially looked like no one was going to show. Fortunately, the two home made pizzas did not go to waste, and this the son's verdict. Saturday- Tons of errands to run, in preparation for dinner party tonight with Wonder Woman aka Gorgeous Woman. Started in Petaling Street, to get the Sei Ngan Chai Ham Arp, (4 eyed boy's salty duck), managed to grab a plate of chee cheong fun....Petaling Street is always so hustling and bustling, even at 9.30am. I so love that place. Great food as well. Headed to normal Ipoh Kueh Teow shop, Lee Tong Kee in Jln Silang, but it was closed, so went to Tengkat Tong Shin, which was ALSO closed. Gee such slackers. Ended up having to get it from Lucky Garden, but the lady wasn't accustomed to our usual method of tah pau, so it ended up a trite soggy. Baked the same Nigella Lawson's C

Star Studded Step

[3rd revision, with better FEARLESS poster] [Fatboy's Recipes Updated with Nigella Lawson's Chocolate Fudge Cake ] Gorgeous Woman, aka Wonder Woman is back . For a few days anyway, for the FF Quartelies, whatever that is. I suspect it happens every three months.....but I THINK its for them to train the instructors for the new releases. Correct me if I am wrong, which I probably am. Anyway, very deja vu , the Body Step class was once again star studded with the who's who of FF's GXIs. There was gorgeous woman, macho nippon woman, jeremy, FSI, and Klevin, famed balance instructor. Of course, any class lead by GW would be fantastic, even if it was Applications of Integrals and Diffentials in Advance Calculus. (yes, I am that biased). She is the Ang Lee equivalent of trainers... alright, alright, enough with the compliments, after she cannot get back onto the plane, head so big. After the class, I had the following conversation with a fellow member: She: Oh, what was the na

It's Dark in The Womb

Image
For some strange bizarre reason, it NEVER occured to me that it is actually dark in the womb....until the gynae, during our ante natal scan yesterday, muttered a remark, "look, the baby is moving its eyes, but obviously she can't see anything, since it's dark in the womb".....I always pictured wombs to look like THIS: Lots of light, and bright light at that. Duhh, you'd think that after three children, I might have figured out otherwise. The other thing I started wondering is, do they pee pee and poo poo while in the womb? It's really quite amazing. Indeed, 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139, verses 13 & 14 Went for body pump class yesterday, as the online schedule showed "SUE" who I thought was Sue Prosser. Sue was supposed to replace my origina

Body Combat - Can Still Sweat

Image
Missed Mr Robot's Pump Class, coz it was too hot. (as in, the sun was scorching). I know, I know, it's not like we are doing it outdoors, but you know, I need an excuse. Will attempt to go for today's body pump class, by some replacement. However, I did go for Myke's combat class. The usual tuesday instructor is away for awhile, (suppressed cartwheels), and in fact, I heard FCI will be teaching that slot for the entire month of March. Oh dear, if I opt to do Robot's class and FCI's class back to back, that'll mean no dessert for family dinner for a month. Choices choices. Unless we stick with refrigerated desserts, as opposed to freshly baked ones. I have to say (again) Myke's combat classes have really exceeded my expectations. Maybe by laying off combat for awhile, absence made the heart grow weaker, so I actually did feel the kick of the class. (figuratively). Okay, onto non gym related stuff, as I have been accused of being too engrossed in my own li

Movie Mania

Image
Forgot to mention that over the weekend, I watched two movies that I thought were rather interesting, especially CRASH. Starring an all star ensemble, like Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillion, it had an interesting premise, mainly about racism, and stereotyping, and how people are not what they might think they are. With lots of twists and unexpected turns, I found it rather gripping, and very watchable. Just what I needed for a dull Saturday night, after birthday party and dinner. The other movie was Suspect Zero, starring Ben Kingsley, Aaron Eckhart and Carrie Ann Moss. A bit weird, but an interesting watch as well. About serial killers. Half way through a movie called Spanglish, a comedy, at the moment. No gym yesterday, decided to give the old bones a rest. What I did do yesterday however, was to try to embark on an even healthier eating regime....quite sad, coz of the blood pressure thingie. Had some muesli with low fat milk in the morning, which apparently kick starts the

Daughter update : seems much better, thanks everyone for all the love and concern and prayers and gifts...once again. Bumped into some friends last night, and their daughter also suffered the same fate...vomitting, diarrhea, drip. And during a meeting I had on Friday, two of the gentlemen present were also suffering diarrhoea. Maybe it's something in the country that needs purging. Let's see now, what happened on Friday. Oh yeah, I was directed to a famous gym 's website, and was rather intrigued by the visuals. First, it shows a pic of a scantily clad supposed celebrity, (I have no idea who she is, but apparently she's named after one of the traffic light colors...but it's certainly not STOP), with the icon "ENTER" very strategically placed.... between her legs. Now, I do not know if this is deliberate, but if it is, wow, hats off to the website designers for top notch subtlety. Bow bow, we are not worthy. Enter the website, and there's more tantalis

Discharged, but Not Out Of the Woods Yet

Daughter seemed better yesterday, and was discharged in the afternoon, though she still has to return for the intravenous administration of the antibiotics. Unfortunately, she is still purging, and also vomitted once this morning, as at press time. Oddly enough, two gentlemen whom I was having a meeting with this morning are also suffering from diarrhea. (though one of them can attribute it to a dodgy burger and teh tarik at at hotel of questionable repute). Nevertheless, girl is in better spirits, and really, there's no place like home. Also, she has been showered with gifts and attention. Fellow cell member even had a teddy bear and flowers delivered to the house. How sweet. I had promised her any doll/toy of her choice, not exceeding RM50. She picked a Barbie costing RM49.90. I'm not one to usually splurge like that on toys, (must have been from Penang in a previous life), but she looked so pathetic in the hospital, and I guess RM50 to see her smile and show some en

When Routines Go Haywire

perspiring fitness instructor says: blogging today? u dun blog ppl get worried perspiring fitness instructor says: you should be more responsible... at least put a short note saying you're busying I'm back, after the above chastising and admonishment. Oh for crying out loud, it's only been one day. (that I've been absent). First things first - daughter is much better, thank you all for your prayers and concern. Thanks especially to aunty LTA & uncle SF who's visit seemed to really cheer her up, and also Godma who taught her how to play fishing. She also seemed cheered by the visit of her cheeky brother. It was the first time I had seen her smile in days. There's something about the boy that makes her laugh. Anyway, of course, the boy was fascinated by all the gadgetry surrounding the drip, and was asking what the numbers meant, etc etc. Like I would know. We had been fortunate thus far in that the next bed (no single rooms avail, only twin share) had been

Brief Update

One of the ways to know if I've had a busy day is when the blog isn't updated by noon. Anyway, daughter is still in hospital, as she is still dehydrated, with slight fever, and still some slight vomitting and diarrhea, so the doctor reckons she still needs the drip and the intravenous antibiotics. Hopefully will be discharged tomorrow. Thanks to all for your concern and prayers. She's looking much better today, well rested, and the dark rings around her eyes are gone. Her appetite is returning too, just hope she can keep the food in.

Last Weekend Of Chinese New Year & Diarrhea Revisited

Image
Daughter got admitted to hospital this morning for diarrhea and vomitting. Which happened suddenly since last night. Poor girl, has the full works, joint pains, fever, etc. Running the blood tests to see if its dengue again. Those of you who remember, the last admission was so traumatic because of the administration of the drip, when they couldn't find her vein, and she had to be jabbed several times. This time round though, her favourite pediatric surgeon, (the same one who worked on her scar on her forehead) administered the drip, and it seemed painless enough. The youth of today.....I don't recall in our childhood ever being admitted so regularly, and I don't think I've ever been on the drip before. But let us not speak too soon. Anyway, she's under observation, and hopefully, will sleep. Amazing, one night of sleep deprivation, vomitting and the runs, and she looks like one dress size smaller. Poor girl. Thank you all who have been praying for her. Dreary monday

Diarrhoea Alert

Unbeknownst to me, quite a few of my friends, eg Bangkok Lawyer, his daughter, Quasi Government Servant Lawyer, were all stricken with diarrhoea over the last week as well. My first thought was, "OH NO, it might have been my currypuffs".... but Bangkok Lawyer's daughter wasn't even there.... and QGSL got hers much later. And apparently friends who went holidaying in Switzerland ALSO got it. How weird is that. Oh, the other day, I embarrasingly pressed an "sms send" too quickly, to a client, informing her my dad had diarrhoea. (the sms was meant for my sister). Anyway, she was very understanding, and even offered a cure!!! Thursday, ....hmmm, had to pick up kids from school, and drive myself to the gym during lunchtime, for Body Step. LIONHEART made a guest star appearance. Actually, after attending the thursday lunchtime class for like what? 2 months?, there seems so be a kind of camaraderie amongst the people who come. They're all regular faces

Hot Hot Hot

The Malay word describes it most aptly. Bahang. It's that kind of oppresive heat emanating from a dying fire. I could sweat just sitting in the massage chair, without having to move an inch. I shan't describe the visuals of it, but suffice to say, the bum and thigh area of the seat was doused in perspiration. Had a very enjoyable lunch with ex FCI. (the one who is no longer teaching). Chatted for nearly 2 hours, topics ranging from gym, to movies, to scuba diving, to theatre. I really miss his classes. Yup, longest lunch break I've taken in a while. Contrary to popular belief. I usually eat alone. All by myself. Online gym schedule showed replacement instructor for the usual wednesday combat slot, so I started making alternative plans. My first choice was to go for RPM with FPI, in DU, but of all the days, he was not teaching yesterday, coz he had already replaced an earlier class. Then I thought, ah, why not go jogging in lake gardens. Then there was a radio warning that w

Back to GXFC (not Gong Xi Fa Cai...but GROUP EXERCISE FOR CNY)

[updated recipe blog: Durian Poppy Seed Cake ] Yup. Back to routine, that's for sure. Mr Robot's body pump class. Can almost predict his comments. After warm up, it's "excellent warm up....stretch it out". But, as usual, it was a good, efficient work out. (I'm not sure what I mean by that, but basically, I'm saying, if you are there purely for a pump work out, with no hope of entertainment or personal touch, then this is the class for you). Some people like it that way. Had done the cycle mill before the class, hoping to rev up some inspiration to join RPM again. Actually, the main deterrent for me at the moment, in MMRB (oh, by the way, Menara John Hancock, MJH is now Menara ManureLife RB, hence MMRB) the RPM classes are mostly at 6.45pm. How lah, father of 3 kids who wants to sit down and eat dinner with his children. Cannot. I have to say this about Mr Robot. He's been in the business a long time, so actually, he knows a lot of tracks. So in that re

Till Death Do Us Fart

Nothing very interesting happened yesterday, so I shall talk briefly about an interesting conversation we had during CNY, which I forgot to mention. It was on Friday night, the 2nd gambling session at my place. KSL was there, without husband (this couple takes turns in appearing, as usually one will have to baby sit the kids....this time, apparently husband was too bushed to come out). Anyway, I was churning out gas like a petronas refinery, due to my gastro entritis, but in consideration for my guests, I'd make a dash for the door and try to discharge the noxious fumes elsewhere. KSL pointed out that I should teach her husband a thing or two.....as he obviously has no qualms about farting in her face. However, I told her, I also have no qualms farting in front of wife, and certainly won't bother bolting to the door to pass wind. The next bit really surprised me. Apparently, Mr KSL doesn't allow Mrs KSL to fart in front of him. The reason being, he's never heard h

Hair To Stay

DAY 5 OF DOGGIE YEAR I think I need to keep a palm to jot down my daily happenings. 4 days later, and I have NO recollection of any particular events happening. Okay, I must have gone for step at 1, because I always do. Yes, I did. Body step at lunch time. Oh, yar, roti canai in the morning with the kids. The fact that they all suffered gastro entritis(sp?)...vomitting and diarrhoea and fever 2 days later, made me think initially it might have been a bad dollop of dahl, or cultured sambal....but there seems to be a bug going around. Body step, with FSI, on thursday was as usual, great. (talk about biased!). As usual, lots of squats, WHICH actually proved quite useful later, because, I had to use the squat loo no less than three times before the day was over, as I too was having diarrhoea. Now, in malls like 1 utama, it is safer I reckon to use the squat loos, as there is no direct skin contact with any of the toilet bowls. At times like THIS, I kinda wished I lived in a developed count

A Bitch of Year As Far As Gambling Goes

Image
It is now chor 5. 6 days of orgiastic feasting, gambling (including the reunion dinner night) have passed us by. I am down by RM280 in the gambling stakes. I haven't dared to step on the scales yet, but I have been faithfully going for gym classes since chor 2. Body attack on Monday, Body Step on Tuesday, and Body Combat yesterday. And I have food (or possibly alcohol) poisoning, and have been purging all night yesterday. Not that I've had a lot to drink....in fact, yesterday I didn't touch a drop. The night before, gambling night at my place, ended at 4.30am, which really zapped all energy, and left me like a zombie last night. Reunion dinner - the family is quite small, and since sister wasn't around, there were only 6 of us adults eating. Very cheng kai kai. And way too much food for 6 adults and 5 children. (2 of my younger cousins, aged 3 and 1 respectively). My family reunion dinners have never really been large affairs. Back when granny was alive, her son from si
