2nd Last Day of Cock Year

Image
Midlife crisis.....definitely. One late night, and it takes like forever to recover. One late night with the wrong mix of alcohol, aiyoooooooooooooo..... Anyway, felt like a zombie most of yesterday. Dragged myself to body step during lunch, (this is where the instructor makes a difference in tipping the scales of indecision....had it been anyone other than FSI, I probably wouldn't have gone), and arrived just in time. FSI's lunch time class is getting more packed, I guess as his reputation spreads amongst the tai tais. Yesterday, there was almost no space left. Far be it for me to complain about my fellow workouters, but some people's EQ are so low; surely if you see you have like 20 feet of empty space infront of you, and someone is trying to slot themselves behind you, at least have the cow sense to move up a bit. Anyway, fortunately FSI told the class to "space out a bit" which got them tai tai asses moving. [ Updated in response to comment from HL, as to why ...

Hangover on Thursday

Now I know why I'm not inclined to go drinking on a week night. And a sangria and whisky combo is not recommended. Anyway, was at La Bodega BSC hanging out with Woman I Am Scared Of , her ex colleagues (who very generously bought drinks), Red Planet and Mr Reliable. Hmmmph, KSL sms-ed me this morning to say that I didnt confirm that drinks was on. Aitelyu, these days, people need a gold plated invitation card, AND a reminder ...hor KSL!!! Young looking doctor ALSO stood us up. Probably had to check out a patient. But we had fun nevertheless. And Red Planet gave me such a sweet CNY card. Rather strange to be handed a CNY card personally, it's usually something you do with wedding invites..... but CNY cards? Hmm...that was a first, but a pleasant first, nonetheless. Awww, he said I was unique, fun and compassionate. Awwwwww....sniff Prior to that, I had to ease my guilty conscience by spending some time with the kids. Brought them to Ikano, and as usual, Aun Aun wante...

We Will We Will Rock You

Since Freddie Mercury is dead anyway, there's little chance of ever getting to watch a REAL Queen concert, unlike ABBA, which has a slim chance of actually doing a reunion tour, if they can put their animosity aside. Anyway, thanks Partner in Big Accounting Firm, who bothered to organise the whole thing and buy the tickets, there we were. We found ourselves in an average demographic spread of people born in the early 60s and above. The sprinkling of youth were kids whom parents dragged along. The performer, I do not know his name, is apparently quite famous, and have done international tours of this tribute. To lend credibility to the act, the real personal assistant to the REAL Freddie Mercury was also on board the tour. Anyway, KL Hilton was packed. Again, another example of the very paradoxical society that we are. In the ballroom, was the Queen Concert, with copious amount of wine and beer flowing, whilst in the next function room, stern looking religious men dressed in ba...

I Love Paris in the Springtime

Decided to have a gym break yesterday, after 5 classes over the last three days. (including that killer RPM). I know instructors can do it (like 6 classes a day), but they're not 40 years old. Met up with OLD OLD FRIENDS yesterday. If I were to add up the years I'd known each individual on the table, I'd be a compost heap. In fact, the "newest friend" I had on that table was WIFE. Old friend, whom I shall just call Laurel, (and I'm Hardy) is off to France for 1½ years for some course, with his dear wife and lovely daughter. We go back a long way, about 18 years now, and have always been in touch. Dinner was at Bangsar Seafood...I haven't been there since they moved to ONE BANGSAR. Okaylah, the food. Nothing to shout about, only went there coz Makcik wanted to have her flower crabs and lala, which they DIDN'T have. Anyway, au revoir for now, dear friends, hope to see you in Paris soon.

RPM Virgin No More

Image
I'm an RPM virgin no more. RPM - RAW POWER IN MOTION, aka Spinning, in some place. Basically a cycling class, in a discotheque environment. I had actually set out for the gym with the intention of going for pump, and when I entered the gym, one of the personal trainers asked me if I was going for RPM, I just gave him a look and laughed. Then, in the changing room, I met RPM Superstar Wes Carter , who kinda "tempted" me to the RPM class. I felt a bit bad, but only a bit, coz I had actually promised my RPM virginity to Shades. Anyway, I surreptitiously bolt downstairs, after registering for Body Pump, and peeked into the RPM studio. I was drawn like cow to an electric fence, and a force greater than myself took over, leading me to sign up for RPM. Trying to look as invisible as possible, I creep back upstairs to cancel my name in Body Pump, but alas, there was no escaping the sharp gaze of Shades. Oh well, there's still Body Jam that I haven't done, so my Body Jam v...

Gong Li Rocks

Image
Thanks to the diligence of young civil engineer, we managed to get tickets for Memoirs of A Geisha. To sum it up, I personally loved the movie. I thought Gong Li, more than Zhang Zi Yi deserved a nomination for the Golden Globes. Then again, I'm biased. Gong Li was deliciously evil, in the movie, almost as good as Maleficent (see pic) ....who is my all time favourite lady villain. And the little girl in the movie, sigh, ever since I got a baby girl, any scene involving young girls suffering, or father and daughter scenes, like bruce willis and watsername in armageddon, is liable to reduce me to a whimpering sobbing fool. Films with young girls that have really pulled at the heartstrings are...... this one, of course, Memoirs, KING OF MASKS, (another chinese show....after all no one does melodrama like the chinese. Ultra tragedy, and as the good doctor says, even the dog dies in the movie). Actually, I should mention that I thought our home grown Dato Michelle Yeoh did a good job to...

To The Tiger & Tigress

Since yesterday was a relatively boring day, and I have nothing interesting to report, I thought I'd take this opportunity to give a public word of thanks to Tiger & wife, (or more specifically, the former)...... since I know they are lurking around somewhere in the blogosphere these days. Thanks to Tiger, I nearly failed university, but also had a great time in those 4 years, despite the fact that the course was a drag, and I hated every minute of the course itself. In 1983, when I was a young, virginal, impressionable young lad, he, being a mentor of sorts in my cell group, dispensed me with this piece of advice. "Fatboy, (it was actually just "chubby" then), listen to me. This is your high school year. You should study HARD this year, so you can get into a good university. But ONCE you are in university, you can take it easy, and do just enough to pass". BRILLIANT!!!! I honestly advocate this to anyone who'd care to listen. Coz in retrospect, ...
