Brokeback Mountain and Other Stuff

[Fatboyrecipes Updated With Scones For Su ] PHEW!!! What a weekend. The thing is, quite a number of things are unbloggable. Due to injured elbow, had to skip FPI's pump, which was just as well, coz my ride to the cowboy party arrived early, at 7.55pm. It wasn't by horse, by the way. Anyway, the party was for Girl Marrying Gwai Low, who will soon be moving to Boston. It was a birthday party cum hen night....Very odd combination, but very novel idea. Anyway, the theme, Wild Wild West was inspired by the movie below. As was the following poster. Actually, while unbloggable to a certain degree, suffice to say things were very much under control, and we did not end up like the 70 college kids the weekend before who got busted in a service apartment for a drug, booze and sex infested party. We were afterall all adults, and in fact, there was a father-daughter pair present for awhile, which speaks VOLUMES for the wholesome-ness of the whole event. Food was great, catered satay, tando...

World Book Day

Image
I'm not sure if "World Book Day" is an actual day, or just a phrase used by Times Bookshop, but who cares, there's a 25% discount on ALL BOOKS for members, on the first day. Thereafter it's 20% off, for another two days. Headed to Times, BSC after dinner, with the intention of getting Nigella's Forever Summer. You'd think at over RM100 per book, Nigella's boobs would hardly be selling like hotcakes, but surprisingly, there wasn't a single copy (ok, there was one) of any of her books around. The manager said they had ordered more, but the stock hasn't arrived. Sigh. What a bummer. Anyway, not one to let a 25% discount go so easily, I ended buying these three books. I should state for the record, that I am not a Jamie Oliver fan per se, but nothing exasperates me more than not having books in sets, if they do come in sets. As it is, godson's parents saw fit to give me "RETURN OF THE NAKED CHEF" some years ago, as a birthday or...

RPM 2nd Time

Image
I stumbled across this gem of wisdom yesterday. It actually makes a lot of sense why time seems to be passing so quickly. The other thing about getting on with age is the constant injuries that seem to occur so easily. I was just, to my detriment, proclaiming how I've had relatively few injuries since starting body pump, less lower back pain, etc. The gods of musclepull must have in ired by my bold statement, and as a result, .....not only have I got the tennis elbow, but low, a mild lower back pain. I slapped on some old man plasters for the elbow, and might have to do so for the lower back. There's something about the smell, I actually quite like it. That medicated, deep heat-ish aroma that wafts around you like body odor. Except it smells much more palatable than body odor, of course. That's my arm, by the way, not the leg. In a continuation of the HEALTHY LIVING series, lunch yesterday comprised of this office made salad. Tuna (in water, not mayo), Lettuce, Mushr...

Tennis Elbow but Not from Tennis

Image
I think this is probably what tennis elbow feels like. Except, mine is on my left elbow, and I am a right hander, AND I haven't played tennis for years, ever since the plantar fascitis gave problems. I am trying to think where I first got the injury, it started off as a niggling pain last week, but after pump last night, it's like a full fledge pain, even hurts to lift the newspaper. The arm feels fine for biceps, triceps, and even the chest track, but hurts like hell for upright row in shoulders.....so much so I was reduced to doing just the right arm, only to be "barked" at by the instructor, who was replacing ROBOT, (it was Myke), who said, "two arms please"....yar, like I dunno that you're supposed to use two hands. Heh heh. Then he made a passing remark about "one arm big one arm small". Lionheart would have loved the workout as all his "favourite tracks", namely all the horsy songs, were played. Since I was in pain, I didn'...

No Loo To Go To

Image
The toilet in the office yesterday was under repairs and we couldn't use it. More specifically, the septic tank was under repair. You often take these things for granted, that there is easy access for you to relieve your bladder, as and when you feel like it, etc etc. Anyway, fortunately, by 12.30pm, I was out of the office, for some appointments. Actually, was with ex FCI on some work related matter. Which dragged all the way until 3pm, so was spared the agony of holding it back. By the time I got back to the office at 3pm, I had totally forgotten the loo was out of bounds, and at about 4.00pm, went to relieve the call of nature. So, didn't flush. The last thing the workers at the septic tank need would be torrents of water gushing down. Decided not to go to the gym today, and give the old bones a rest. My left elbow seems to be hurting, for a few days now. Actually, I keep forgetting I have passport, and keep forgetting there's Body Attack at Axis on Mondays at 5.30!...

Weekend With Wonder Woman

Image
Friday - Same old same old. Body Pump at MJH/MRB, FPI that day replaced by Myke, as the former had quartelies. Rushed back, to prepare supper for cell group, which initially looked like no one was going to show. Fortunately, the two home made pizzas did not go to waste, and this the son's verdict. Saturday- Tons of errands to run, in preparation for dinner party tonight with Wonder Woman aka Gorgeous Woman. Started in Petaling Street, to get the Sei Ngan Chai Ham Arp, (4 eyed boy's salty duck), managed to grab a plate of chee cheong fun....Petaling Street is always so hustling and bustling, even at 9.30am. I so love that place. Great food as well. Headed to normal Ipoh Kueh Teow shop, Lee Tong Kee in Jln Silang, but it was closed, so went to Tengkat Tong Shin, which was ALSO closed. Gee such slackers. Ended up having to get it from Lucky Garden, but the lady wasn't accustomed to our usual method of tah pau, so it ended up a trite soggy. Baked the same Nigella Lawson's C...

Star Studded Step

Image
[3rd revision, with better FEARLESS poster] [Fatboy's Recipes Updated with Nigella Lawson's Chocolate Fudge Cake ] Gorgeous Woman, aka Wonder Woman is back . For a few days anyway, for the FF Quartelies, whatever that is. I suspect it happens every three months.....but I THINK its for them to train the instructors for the new releases. Correct me if I am wrong, which I probably am. Anyway, very deja vu , the Body Step class was once again star studded with the who's who of FF's GXIs. There was gorgeous woman, macho nippon woman, jeremy, FSI, and Klevin, famed balance instructor. Of course, any class lead by GW would be fantastic, even if it was Applications of Integrals and Diffentials in Advance Calculus. (yes, I am that biased). She is the Ang Lee equivalent of trainers... alright, alright, enough with the compliments, after she cannot get back onto the plane, head so big. After the class, I had the following conversation with a fellow member: She: Oh, what was the na...
