Weekend With Wonder Woman
Friday - Same old same old. Body Pump at MJH/MRB, FPI that day replaced by Myke, as the former had quartelies. Rushed back, to prepare supper for cell group, which initially looked like no one was going to show. Fortunately, the two home made pizzas did not go to waste, and this the son's verdict.
Saturday- Tons of errands to run, in preparation for dinner party tonight with Wonder Woman aka Gorgeous Woman. Started in Petaling Street, to get the Sei Ngan Chai Ham Arp, (4 eyed boy's salty duck), managed to grab a plate of chee cheong fun....Petaling Street is always so hustling and bustling, even at 9.30am. I so love that place. Great food as well. Headed to normal Ipoh Kueh Teow shop, Lee Tong Kee in Jln Silang, but it was closed, so went to Tengkat Tong Shin, which was ALSO closed. Gee such slackers. Ended up having to get it from Lucky Garden, but the lady wasn't accustomed to our usual method of tah pau, so it ended up a trite soggy.
Baked the same Nigella Lawson's Choc Fudge Cake for dessert, in the afternoon, before heading for Body Attack in Axis. It was taught by Jason, who also teaches Body Jam. I enjoyed the class, but didn't seem to sweat as much. Wonder why. Not like I was taking the easier options. The position of FAI (Fave Attack Instructor) is still vacant, for I haven't been very regular, and actually, so far, with the exception of Jeremy, have not had anyone twice. (oh, GW doesn't count....) But Jason was pretty good, there's something very down to earth about his demeanour....that makes him very err......human, and easy to relate to. However, that doesn't necessarily translate to friendliness, as I found out later. Then again, most instructors who are aloof usually attribute it to shyness and reserveness. A bit hard to reconcile, but I guess acceptable.
Second round of errands after attack, collecting the roast meat, etc etc.
DINNER - All the EFFs were there.... FCI, FPI, FSI, GW, and the new additions of Janis and Klevin. Most of the instructors were late, coz they were held up in the Curve, but Mr & Mrs Lion Heart, YHSMOM, and Shades & gf were on time. The menu comprised a Duet of Homemade Pizzas, One with Pesto Base, One with tomato base, with scallops, bacon, basil, mushroom and peppers, Trio of Cheese Platter, and Edamame Beans.
Mains were Silky Rice Noodles in a Chicken Consomme (aka Ipoh Kueh Teow la), Roast Duck, Roast Pork, Salad with quails eggs and pine nuts, in a balsamic dressing, a sour mango kerabu and black hokkien mee, oh, and Kajang Satay from Ampang. (thanks Shades for getting that).
Initially, it looked as if there wasn't going to be a dent in the food. Fortunately, justice was done, and we were not left with leftovers to last 3 months.
Dinner was a hilarious affair. Lion Heart seems to know every instructor, and had a running commentary, while instructors also seem to know certain members. I tell you, they could start a whole new soap opera based on the gym. Anyway, most of the stuff talked about probably cannot be repeated, so I shall not put anyone in a perilous position. Janis, or Big J, was the only instructor who drank with me. FCI is a teetotaller, as seemed everyone else.
Here are some pics of the night:
And that was Saturday. Made several new acquaintances. That was good. Found out that Lion Heart and Wife also love cooking.
Sunday - church service as usual. No coffee shop lunch, as had to eat the leftovers. Body Step in the afternoon, with Eugene. Class seems to getting more crowded. In the evening, brought the kids to lake club for swim....
