Movie Mania

Forgot to mention that over the weekend, I watched two movies that I thought were rather interesting, especially CRASH. Starring an all star ensemble, like Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillion, it had an interesting premise, mainly about racism, and stereotyping, and how people are not what they might think they are. With lots of twists and unexpected turns, I found it rather gripping, and very watchable. Just what I needed for a dull Saturday night, after birthday party and dinner.

The other movie was Suspect Zero, starring Ben Kingsley, Aaron Eckhart and Carrie Ann Moss. A bit weird, but an interesting watch as well. About serial killers. Half way through a movie called Spanglish, a comedy, at the moment.

No gym yesterday, decided to give the old bones a rest. What I did do yesterday however, was to try to embark on an even healthier eating regime....quite sad, coz of the blood pressure thingie. Had some muesli with low fat milk in the morning, which apparently kick starts the metabolic rate and keeps you full till lunch. Nonsense. I was starving by 12. That's when I had my Roast Chicken Salad with Lemon Juice Dressing. Chicken without skin, of course. On saturday night, I had the vietnamese salad in Delicious, and was a bit inspired, (although that one was not so healthy, with peanut sauce and all), and added a hitherto never added ingredient, ie, bawang kecik, or small onions, or shallots, or scallions. Shallots in Australia means something else I think, and definitions vary, but i mean those small red onions with lots of kick.

Anyway, the salad was rather good, and rather filling at that moment, but heck, by 4pm I was hungry again. So maybe the muesli DID kick start the metabolism, but what use is that if you are continuously hungry? Can someone please suggest a filling, delicious, low calorie, low GI, healthy, cheap snack?

For dinner, had hardly any rice, (we eat brown rice at home anyway, which I find ugh!!!), steamed fish, steamed meat, some leftover roast chicken, (not the same one as lunchtime), kerabu, (a Malay salad with raw cucumbers, taugeh, onions, chilli padi, and lime juice also.....), and choy sum soup. Mind you, this is quite a typical dinner meal for us, lots of steamed healthy food. Yet, YET, YET........

After dinner, decided to walk it off, in the mall. Not really la, needed to buy a set of wall lights, as the one in my room had konked out from old age. Went to 1 utama, Jusco Home Centre....where every light I wanted was out of stock. In desperation, settled for a horrendous one, afterall, they are only 29.90, not 29k. Then got call from kid no 2, via his secretary, kid no 1, saying he needed HB pencils and a scissors for school, so headed for the stationery shop. Baby boy was with us. It's amazing how kids know the names of all the different ULTRAMAN, and there are like 40 different varieties.

Was going to buy baby some crayons, then I saw THIS for RM12.99. Color pencils, crayons, oil pastels, water colors, stapler, eraser, ruler, brush.....I am a sucker for perceived value for money things, so to his delight, I chose this set over the RM5 pack of STEADTLER crayons.

I think muesli increases your metabolic rate and therefore makes you feel hungry faster.

Scallions in the US or A are green onions tho...Shallots are fragrant small-ish brown onions...

in australia, i think shallots also meant our spring onions, ie, chung, you know, the ones we sprinkle over soup. ie, the leaves from the onion. then again, aussie english is weird.
